Thames river trip and Alumni Reception in Greenwich
Some 100 alumni and friends joined Vice-Chancellor Dr Max Price on a river trip from Waterloo to the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, where they enjoyed a reception with talks from the Vice-Chancellor and the Director of the Graduate School of Business, as well as musical entertainment from talented UCT alumni.

Justice Albie Sachs talks to UCT Alumni at book launch in London
Albie Sachs, Judge of the Constitutional Court of South Africa, gave a moving and inspirational speech to UCT alumni and other guests at the launch of his new book, “The Strange Alchemy of Life and Law” in London’s School of Oriental and African Studies. He kept the audience spellbound with anecdotes from his childhood, his activism during the days of apartheid, and his judgments in Court. Before the main presentation, he spoke exclusively to UCT alumni.

Vice Chancellor's Reception at South Africa House, with Richard Fitzwilliams
UCT Alumni met in the Reading Room at South Africa House for an update from Vice-Chancellor Max Price on the recent South African election and the new cabinet. Alumnus Richard Fitzwilliams (former Editor of the International Who’s Who and sought after film critic and correspondent on royalty and the art world) was the guest speaker.
UCT Alumni enjoy a glass of South African wine in the Reading Room
UCT alumni enjoyed best-of-house seats at a stunning RSC/Baxter Theatre production of The Tempest at the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford upon Avon. The play starred Sir Antony Sher and John Kani, and after the performance, the cast and production team joined alumni at a nearby hotel for drinks and snacks.

The new Vice Chancellor spoke of his vision for UCT at a reception attended by over 100 alumni.
Professor Frank Horwitz, outgoing Director of the Graduate School of Business, met with UK based GSB alumni to review the developments and accomplishments of the GSB and talk about its future challenges.

The Law 150 fundraising campaign was launched by Vice Chancellor, Dr Max Price, Prof Hugh Corder and Judge Dennis Davis who addressed some 40 UK based Law Alumni. They provided updates on UCT’s Law Faculty, as well as thoughts on the challenges facing South African democracy.
