About Us



The University of Cape Town Trust - in the U.K.

Established in London in 1991 by Vice Chancellor Dr Stuart Saunders, the Trust has raised over £17 million in the UK for projects at UCT.
It is a UK registered charity No. 803042 and its goal is to build support for UCT in the UK and Europe.

Our Aim:

We aim to delight our donors and supporters - where every pound donated goes to its cause, where every project supported provides annual reports, where recognition is given to celebrate our donors.

UK Donor Generosity to UCT




UK-based UCT Alumni have given generously through the UCT Trust to help fund bursary programmes for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, support the Upper Campus project which enhanced library and student facilities, and grow UCT’s endowment.

The Leverhulme Trust and the Nuffield Foundation

are funding substantial Fellowship Programmes in the Chemistry Department  which are aimed at producing the next generation of academics.

Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine (IIDMM)

This prestigious new Institute on the Medical campus, was supported by many UK donors with the lead gift made by the Wolfson Foundation for the new Wolfson Pavilion at the heart of the two historic Wernher & Beit Buildings creating state-of-the-art laboratories, conference and library areas to help South Africa retain and attract major scientists.
